Tubular Heater

General description:
The most versatile of all electric heating elements, the tubular heater is capable of being formed into virtually any shape or configuration. The basic design consists of a resistance wire / coil precisely centered in metal sheath. This wire / coil is surrounded by MgO powder which is vibration loaded to insure even density throughout the sheath of the heater. This assembly is then roll reduced or swaged to the finish diameter, compacting the MgO. The following annealing brings the metal back to a soft state, allowing the element to be bent into virtually any configuration.
The leads on tubular heaters are exiting both ends of the heater. They can be straight or bent into various shapes. They can be round or flat manufactured with Mica band.

Application:
Tubular heaters are widely used for:

  1. conduction heating
  2. convection heating
  3. radiant heating

The most common sheath materials are:

Copper Sheath:
Water heating, water solutions non corrosive to copper

Steel Sheath:
Immersion in oils, alkaline cleaning solutions, tars and aspalt. Also suitable for clamping to metal surfaces and casting into aluminum.

Stainless Steel Sheath:
For corrosive liquids, food processing equipment

Incoloy Sheath:
Air heating or Radiant heating , cleaning and degreasing solutions, plating and pickling solutions, corrosive liquids
